Well, it’s certainly been a long time since I’ve written here…

…and quite a lot has happened in the time since. First of all, I managed to find employment not long after publishing my previous post, and recently celebrated my one year anniversary at the managed service provider/MSP marketing agency where I work. As a result of this employment, I moved out of my parent’s house and am now living in an apartment MUCH closer to the office (15 or so minutes, compared to an hour and 15 minutes, each way).

I’m not living alone, either. As I’m writing these words, my roommate is laying next to me. His name’s Benny, and he’s a one-year-old Maltipoo. Despite his incredible talent to drive me absolutely crazy at times, I love him to death and maintain that he is–without question–the best birthday present I’ve ever gotten.

(My thanks to my employers for the second picture in this sequence, as well as for permitting the little booger to come and spend the day at the office every so often.)

I’m not the only one who got a dog, either. My sister (even more recently) got herself a young Westie puppy named Henry, who even more-more recently joined her in her new collegiate apartment. Dogs were not allowed in her previous one, so the high-energy, high-jumping Henry was busy exhausting my parents and exasperating Finn and Maggie. A visit from Benny soon became a welcome event because of the distraction my little guy gave Henry from tirelessly accosting the other dogs.

Bow Benny and Henry

This picture was presumably taken moments before Benny was ambushed by an enthusiastic request for playtime.

However, since Molly is now living in an apartment where dogs are allowed, she will have the burden chore joy of caring for Henry all to herself.  Henry will return, however, as Molly will of course be returning home for holidays and the like, and will need to bring Henry along.

My last Texas trip was a massive success, as I have finally reached the point where I can reduce my number of trips down to once every year. I’ll confess, I was sweating a bit before the doctor came in, but I was much better once he shared the good news and approved the request of fewer trips down. Not that I don’t enjoy seeing the folks down at the amazing MD Anderson Cancer Center, it’s just that they aren’t really social visits, so the fewer of them I need, the better.

Add these events with the fact that I m slowly accumulating greater responsibilities and skills at work, and you end up with a sum total of a pretty well-spent year. Has it all been perfect? Of course not. Have I had worse? Of course?

Have I peaked here? Not on your life. Expect more good things to show up here soon.
